Clouds over Seguin

When we lived in New Mexico, there were so many gorgeous sunrises and sunsets - morning, afternoon and evening skies (visualize Ansel Adams' lovely photograph Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico 1941).
The skies in Colorado were breathtaking. Now, each day the sky over Seguin causes wonderment.

“Books to the ceiling, Books to the sky, My pile of books is a mile high.” (Arnold Lobel)

Reading is such a pleasure for me. I can recall reading
on the laundry detergent boxes before I entered school (and these boxes would contain dishtowels which my mother would use until they were rags used for dusting). It is certain that my pronunciation of this word was not precise but when I questioned the writings I saw in the household such as "Frigidair" and "Oxydol," my parents would always pronounce and spell the words for me. Reading provided such excitement! AND I still have that excitement! I love books!

My Church

In November the First United Methodist Church of Seguin didn't have services on a particular Sunday.

Instead, members of our church served the community - performing chores such as painting the Christian Free Clinic, trimming trees and cleaning at the Girl Scout House, donating and stocking food at the Christian Cupboard. You name it. No task was too much for these dedicated workers nor too dirty. We were truly The Church.
