Tri-Methodist Worship Service

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

My Greeter at the Library Tuesday

I have been wanting to read Dewey the Library Cat
and was reminded of this yesterday when I visited our library
and was greeted by a striped orange cat.
This book is definitely on my To Read List!

Season of Lent - Forgiveness - Reflection - Introspection

The snapshot above is from my husband's Army Album; he took this picture in Germany. A few Sundays ago, our Sharers Sunday School Class studied the Book of Esther and this week Jews celebrate the Festival of Purim, gathering in synagogues to read the Book of Esther.

Set in ancient Persia, it tells of Haman, a powerful royal adviser who is insulted when the Jewish sage Mordechai refuses to bow down to him. Haman resolves to wipe out the empire's Jews and makes the case for genocide in an appeal to the king:

"There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among . . . all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different from those of other peoples, and the king's laws they do not keep, so it is of no benefit for the king to tolerate them. If it please the king, let it be written that they be destroyed."

Hall of Mirrors

I have been sorting through 'stuff,' trying to toss all of the 'stuff' I've accumulated (even after the 1998 flood took most everything - seems as though I just keep acquiring/accumulating 'stuff!'). I want to complete this purging/housecleaning so that my children won't have to deal with all of My Stuff.

Always getting sidetracked, it seems. Have been looking through some of the snapshots Hubby took when he was stationed in Germany and did some traveling to other countries. Actually, the black and white photographs stand the test of time better than the color photos.

This snapshot from his Army Album is of the Hall of Mirrors
